Quick answer

You can split a long document into chapters so writers and readers can jump to the section they need. Each chapter is a tab inside one file — similar to multiple sheets in a spreadsheet.

Open the tabs panel

  1. On your computer, open a document in Oparo Page.
  2. At the top of the document, click Tabs & outline.
  3. The left panel lists every chapter in the document.

Tip: When a document has two or more tabs, the panel opens automatically the first time you open it.

Add a chapter

  1. In the Tabs & outline panel, click Add tab.
  2. Double-click the tab name to rename it.
  3. Optional: click the tab menu (⋯), then Choose emoji to add a visual marker.

Each tab has its own content. Switch tabs to edit a different chapter without leaving the document.

Add a subchapter

  1. In the Tabs & outline panel, open the tab menu (⋯) on the chapter that should contain the subchapter.
  2. Click Add subtab.
  3. You can nest up to three levels of tabs (tab → subtab → sub-subtab).

Share a link to one chapter

  1. In the Tabs & outline panel, open the tab menu (⋯) on the chapter you want to share.
  2. Click Copy link to tab.
  3. Send the link. When someone opens it, Oparo Page jumps to that chapter.

Use section breaks inside a chapter

Section breaks control layout within a chapter (for example, starting a new page in print).

  1. Place the cursor where the break should go.
  2. In the menu bar, click Insert.
  3. Click Section break (next page) or Section break (continuous).
  4. To see break lines on screen, click View, then Show section breaks.

Note: Section breaks apply inside the current tab only. They don't split the document into separate chapters — use Add tab for that.

See headings inside a chapter

  1. Open Tabs & outline.
  2. Select a tab.
  3. The Document outline list under the tabs shows headings in that chapter. Click a heading to jump to it.
